Dancing Queen!

Brooklynn was finally old enough this year to participate in a dance clinic! (By a month, but hey, she was old enough!!) ISU had theirs first (she wants to do the Aberdeen Cheer camp this summer) and so we signed her up. I know she likes to dance, but didn't think she would LOVE it as much as she did. She was so excited to go out and dance. Here is her picture just before she performed:
And here is the entire group of girls who danced that night:

We had a good time at the game, also! Crazy enough to say that we had a fun time at the ISU girls basketball game, but I will give them credit. It really was a good game. Luke and I are also ISU Alumni, and, I'm honestly saying that we haven't taken our kiddos to ONE ISU game. Sad, hu? After the game we drove them to our first apartment together, and around campus a little. We also showed them where we met for the first time!! Fun times, fun times!

Why we have carpet on our stairs:

I went up and down the stairs all day long stoking the fire that gives us free heat, when this little masterpiece caught my eye:

I guess that's why they carpeted the stairs in the first place, right? Why else would someone so bright do that? So, then, what kind of pictures am I supposed to find in three out of my four bathrooms, or even on my dining room floor? Do I really want to know?!!

Happy Valentines Day!

We hope that everyone had an awesome day of love like we did this year at our house! Between sick kids, scouts, and just about everything else non-Valentinesy, I did manage to get in a yummy, traditional Valentines Day dinner! We had fettuccine Alfredo with spinach noodles, steamed broccoli, cheesy garlic bread, canned peaches, chocolate covered strawberries, and for dessert, cinnamon pie! The kids also requested sparkling cider because it was "tradition", so I broke down and got them a bottle. I would have preferred Diet Dr. Pepper, but that's ok!!
I got the kiddos a cheesy heart with chocolates inside, and look how excited they were! SO ENTHUSED!! I ended up eating all the chocolates and throwing away the hearts the next morning. Remind me again why we try to do nice things for those we love but know won't appreciate our efforts!!

Weekend getaway

From left to right: Tanner and Krystle Vollmer, Heather and Travis Pincock, Luke and I, and Rebecca Driscoll. Hello, Braedon, we needed someone else to take the picture. ME!
We finally had a little mom and dad getaway this last weekend!! While we've had fun going on ski trips, pinewood derby's, and watching Carson play ball each weekend, we were so excited when we were asked to go on a little outting with some friends from Aberdeen! It was some much needed fresh air from all the crying and fighting I've been putting up with lately!

We dropped the kiddos off Friday night and left early the next morning for Utah. We went to Provo for the BYU/Utah basketball game, but were able to get some much needed shopping in, first! The boys, of course, went to the BYU sports complex for the couple of hours we were in the mall, but I can honestly say that we didn't miss them too much!

The game was way fun! I think I was so tired, though, and practically sitting on Luke's lap the entire time, that I didn't quite yell as much as I do at Carson's games. (Yep, I'm that crazy mom that gets excited for everyone on the team!!) Jimmer had a slow start with only 10 points in the first half, but was pretty impressive in the fourth quarter, bringing his total of points to 22. It was fun to see him play.

On our way home we stopped for some always-yummy Olive Garden. I had my usual, and seriously almost ate it all!!! The crazy funny thing about the whole day is that twelve years ago I would have been bouncing off the walls even on the way home. Now, with kids, an amazing hubby, and all of the different responsibilities of life, I was EXHAUSTED! By 9:00 I was ready for bed, and we were still at the resturant!! Thanks, guys for the great day!
