My Little Fashion Bug!!

I am the not-so-perfect type of mom who tries to pick her battles. Like, for example, when an unidentified 8 yr. old buttons his church shirt wrong 4 times in a row making us late for church, he gets a bop on the head. BUT, when he was three, he wore ridiculous yellow rain boots I bought from the thrift store for his firefighter Halloween costume EVERYWHERE-- even to church (in the parking lot, he knew he had to change them, but changed as soon as he got back into the car!) Some people looked at me in disgust when my five year old wears his cowboy hat EVERYWHERE (another battle I'm not going to fight). Nothing is wrong with his hat- except that one side is broke off and it looks like it's been run over by the tractor and a few cows (which it probably has been!) So, when my two year old started her phase of changing outfits several times a day, I decided it wouldn't be a battle as long as she didn't throw clean clothes in the laundry room. Just a few weeks ago, though, I noticed a trend: I dress her in cute jeans or sweats, and she changes to stretch pants. Not a big problem, unless we're going into public. You see, I don't know where most of these pants came from, but, as you can see, the prints are HORRIBLE!! They don't match with just any shirt. She really looks cute in these pants- her little bum and skinny body, but I can't get her to take them off. They've even become her new pajamas! Just last week my mom and I went to Utah, and were looking for jeans to fit my skinny daughter, when she started throwing a fit. My mom asked her what she wanted, and she said "I want those pants"- pointing to a hideous pair of bright blue leggin's with rainbows, hearts, and other things. What did my mom do? SHE GAVE IN and spent two dollars on these pants, which she then proceeded to let Brooklynn put on to finish our shopping trip. I looked on in disgust while shelling out $13.50 for a pair of jeans she WILL wear to Walmart next time I go!!
P.S. At every store we went to after that, if there was something that I liked, Brooklynn would say that it was hideous and hold Grandma's hand!

Happy Valentines Day!

It's a "lovely" day for everyone! I'm getting excited for our yummy dinner tonight with the fam.- a tradition we continue each year! We actually have our family (kiddo's and Luke and I) all together on this "lovey" day! We still have a romantic dinner- candles, chocolate dipped strawberries, sparkling cider in goblets, and even nice dishes and a tablecloth (sigh), but the kids help out and enjoy the dinner with us! It is so much fun having the kids help me cook and dip and set up, and they feel so special! To top off the evening, I got my boys "Big Game Hunting" for the Wii. They have a new gun and crossbow waiting, too! Brooks and I can take a bubble bath and paint our toenails while they play!!

FYI: Luke and I went out alone last night. We went to Downeta swimming and then had time alone while my mom and dad watched the kids!

What fun traditions do you guys have?

WOW!!!

Okay, sorry to all of you out there who aren't SCENTSY fans, but I have to let the rest of you know . . . I got my Spring/Summer stuff (catalogs & scents) today, and they are super yummy! I'm not a big fan of the animal print warmers- or the front cover of the new catalog for that matter, but I also don't have a room in my house decorated in these prints!! However, I do like the new warmers (none that I have to have- except for the March warmer of the month). The scents are so yummy, though. I'm sad I have to wait until the first of March to order them! Some of my favorites are:
Grape Granita, Lush Gardenia, Meadow Pear, Pima Cotton, Red Delicious (they had this last summer, and I LOVE it!!), Pineapple Paradise, Tea Blossom, Coconut Citrus Parfait, and Twilight! How fun would it be to hold a Twilight party and do Scentsy at the same time?! I am having a barn warming party in March, so watch your mail boxes or visit my website for more info.!: www.scentsy.com/jenifoster

MAJOR RECOMMENDATION!!

I've seen a ton of comments lately about this movie in the papers, and decided it looked good. Seriously, who couldn't use pointers on their marriage, and I was in need of a good cry since my hormones are going crazy with this baby. So, when I went to Great American Video yesterday to rent The Secret Life of Bees ALSO highly recommended, but read the book first, I found this one had also just come out. Luke promised me that if I would let him get a action movie- yes, I use bribes, he would watch this one with me! It was AWESOME!! Not only did he watch the movie with me, but he, too, liked it a ton. He even watched his movie after and said the Fireproof was better! This may be one we even buy, and we don't do that often. It's kinda churchy- not LDS, but Chrisitan based. It kinda reminds me of the book "The Peacemaker" (which, if you have never read, do, do, d o!! It's more amazing than any other church book I've read in a long time, but that's another story.) Seriously, watch this one!!

Dad's an expert!!

Last month, Carson got his first haircut from a barber shop - Sports Clips, to be exact. Crazy, I know! He's 8, and just had his first experience. Let me fill you in on why:
When he was 2 (seriously, just 2), I told him he needed a hair cut. He said to me "Mom, have you seen the blades on those scissors? No way!" (He seriously talked that well that young!) I was actually surprised by his observation, probably of when I would get my hair cut, but gave in and used clippers on this monkey for 8 years!! (Also, when he was younger, he had the cuttest curls- just like Brooklynn does now. I hated to cut them all off, but he refused otherwise!)
Now that he's older, smarter, and can think a little more "critically", he decided that his hair needed to look better then mom or dad's clipper job. I did a Scentsy party for a girl who works at Sports Clips, so I decided to take her there. They were awesome, and Carson felt like a sports star when he was done! We decided this place was a keeper.
Last night, mom and dad were watching the kiddos for Luke and I to go to an appointment, and my mom took Carson for a long and very overdue haircut. When we came home, Luke said: "Carson, you look awesome! But, why didn't you just have me cut your hair when I cut mine tonight?" Carson answered back matter of factly: "Dad, you may be an expert at making grilled cheese sandwiches, but you're not even close when it comes to cutting my hair!" (Smart kid!!!!)
