Poo Poo Head

My kiddos have been fighting a ton lately, and Colton is starting to resort to some name calling since he just can't seem to get the upper hand on Carson. Just recently, however, Colton, to get more attention drawn to himself has be trying to use bad language. Don't get me wrong, he hasn't dropped to f-bomb (yet), but just yesterday got me thinking that my language ("Oh, hell") isn't up to par. He's listening, and we're talking. Truthfully, I have NEVER heard Luke swear. He's not perfect, but I've never heard a bad word come out of his mouth. I, on the other hand, have a pretty dirty mouth (or at least think the word when I'm upset.) I have excuses, heck, I work at a truck stop where even the employees are criminals! The language there isn't pretty, and I'm around it quite often. Then, on Monday, I took the kiddos to watch some friends ride bulls. The language there isn't top dollar, either. Off of my soapbox, I love to read the meanest mom's blog. It's actually what got me into blogging. Just a coincidence that she wrote the following article this last week for momlogic (which I'm also a huge fan of!) I think we were on the same brain wave length!! www.momlogic.com/2008/07/bad_words.php

Naked issues . . .

Yeah, we have an ongoing issue at our house. Okay, it was a small problem with the boys, but my daughter? HELP!!! My boys were like most, taking off their clothes and occasionally a diaper or two. However, Brooks? Continually stripping like it's a full time job where she's making a living and also providing for her parents and brothers! (I would give her a stripper name, but I fear that would be a little too inappropriate!)
Thankfully we haven't had any disturbing incidents with poo, but we've had the diaper come off in the sand box getting into crevices and creases that are a little too private to comment on!! Yes, it's happened at Walmart, church, and even my work! (Places she chose to leave an impact, because she knows I'll be back in at least a week!)
For those of you moms who know what you're doing, here's what I've tried so far. Keep in mind, this promiscuous girl just turned 18 months last week! (My boys were at least two before they started dressing themselves!!):
  • duct tape: yep, we all have it, but do we use it for all purposes? I LOVE the different colors, using them for decorating various things; my clothesline outside, the kid's shoe/toy boxes, etc. My latest use is the pink color (or white) to go around the diaper. However, have you ever tried cutting off a poopy diaper with scissors. More mess then what the tape is worth!
  • putting clothes on backwards: Colton used to have the same problem, putting his clothes on backwards. I used to hide my head in shame and not go into public until he was turned around. Now I'm purposefully doing it to my daughter! However, going into public isn't an option dressed like this, unless I want Health and Welfare knocking on my door asking me to do a mental evaluation before my parental rights will be restored!
  • Onsies: GREAT option, if it were winter time!! I did, however, find a few onsies that are tank tops so she can wear them as an outfit. BUT, it's too hot right now to make her wear them every day. Hey, I don't mind if she plays stripper at home, the one place I allow her to just walk around in a onsie, too!

So, if you have any suggestions, I'll for sure try them, but please keep in mind, Houdini here isn't yet challenged! Her brothers, however, are finding this new "trick" hilarious. (Especially when it doubly embarrasses mom!) Maybe she's taking after her dad, running around naked, cuz I'm totally innocent! I can't even watch "How to look good naked" without wanting to throw up!

*** I wanted to post a picture, but feared blogger would tag me as a porn producer, and didn't want to have my blog stalked by the FBI. Can you imagine, the PTO President is a porn mom?!!

Happy Birthday, Mitchie!!

Today we celebrated my nephew, Mitch's 8th Birthday at the Lava Swimming Pool. Yep, he's turning 8 tomorrow!! That means he'll also be a cub scout and baptised in a couple weeks! Crazy how time goes by so quickly, hu? In four months, Carson will also be turning 8!! That's even crazier to me!!
We had a blast at the pool. We got there fairly early, so we had a good place to set up the tent thingy so we could have shade all day. That kinda saved us! Brooks is so funny in the water. She just jumps in, and I constantly have to pull her out. She loves it!! She was even going down the small slide they have for kids and diving under the water. When she came up, instead of even wiping the water from her eyes, she would clap and point to the slide again!! HOWEVER . . . I am such a bad mom!! Last weekend at the Foster Family Reunion, I got fried. I put on sunscreen, as much as I did on the kids, but for some reason, I was so burnt I'm still not done peeling! Today, I put on the same sunscreen, and every one of us is fried. Not kidding. I feel horrible!! My boys hurt so bad that they said they can't even lay down. I just hurt, period! (My g's make it worse, too!) I checked the sunscreen, and it doesn't expire till 2011, and I even got it from Walmart this year, but it's totally going in the garbage can!! I'll keep you posted on the blisters (we're all bound to have some!)

P.S. I really want to do something special for Carson for his 8th Birthday. If anyone has any ideas for his baptism or being a new cub scout, I'd love to hear them. For my friends who can't comment on my blog, cuz you're still crazy and anonymous, e-mail me!! Thanks!!

My First Ride in a Cop Car!!!

Yep! It finally happened! Last night, July 4, 2008, I had my first experience in a cop car! Now, some of you may have the wrong impression, but I had a blast!!
It all started when Luke came to work (yes, I had to work all night on the 4th), and asked for my phone charger. I told him it was in the car, and went to get him my keys. Couldn't find them. For those of you who know me, can you believe I would lock my keys in the car? So, Luke told me he would come and get me around 11:00 p.m. Ok.
Around 11:45 p.m., Officer Clint, (his first name for protection) a friend of mine from Flying J came in to get a drink. I went over to say hi, and asked if he had a thingy to break into my car. He smiled and pointed to his gun. "No, no," I said, "let's not resort to violence, yet. Let's wait until my hubby gets here, 'cuz he's late picking me up." Clint laughed and told me he could have expected me to lock my keys in the car, and our next conversation went something like this:
C: "I could give you a ride to your husband."
Me: "I don't know what field he's baling in. It could be this way (pointing) or that way!"
C: "Well, let's go find him."
Me: "Do I get to ride in the back seat next to your dog?"
C: "Yeah, but first we have to hand cuff you and search you!!"
Me: "The front will do, if we can turn on the lights!"
So we got in the car, and headed to the first field. Dark. No tractor lights. Officer Clint was so nice, though, he pointed out the pivot was running, because the light on top was flashing!
Then we head to the Haywire Ranch. He is such a bad driver! He always has his pedal to the medal, then slams on his breaks!
When we got to the Haywire (the ranch Luke is running), we saw some lights. Clint is such a gentleman, he got out and tried to open the gate. It was locked, so he said "We'll just drive up the road and turn the lights on. That should get his attention." At the same time, Luke turned off the tractor and started for his truck. (He said he saw a car at the gate, and knew it was me). Well, we didn't know what was going on, so Clint turned on his lights and even spot lighted him walking through the field! Then he handed me his radio thingy and told me to talk to Luke. I told him not to moon us, cuz he would get a ticket. I also told him to come and get me cuz Clint wanted to take me to jail. Poor Luke was so confused, but he started to walk to the cop truck!! I told Clint thanks, and, as I was getting out of the truck, told him Luke and I were going to go frolic in the field. He could now get back to official police business!! He informed me, however, that his truck had a video camera, and that if we undressed to parts a swimming suit covers, that he would have to turn us in! I was laughing so hard that I literally fell down the embankment from the side of the road. This time it was my turn to get spotlighted!! He asked if I was ok, and I told him he did a crappy job transporting a civilian safely!! Luckily, Luke showed up to save me any more embarrassment!!

Music

From my last post, you could probably tell that I love music. (If not, then I really adore listening to music- almost any kind!!) The main reason that music got a full post? Have you ever been somewhere, in a kind of mood, and heard a song that instantly brought a smile or even a tear to your face? It seems like lately I've been playing that game a ton, not even looking for memories or even a small sentimental cry!!
Last week was horrid at work, I was on the verge of tears for a whole day. Then, when I was cleaning up, "Walk of Life" by Dire Straights came on. My daddy used to rock out to that in his high-pitched voice!! I remember he would play it so loud in his truck that I couldn't even hear myself think! I seriously hadn't heard that song in about ten years, or at least thought of him or the memories I had from it!! The song that reminds me of mom? "Dizzy" by Vic Reeves and the Wonder Stuff. She would crank it up on our way to Shoshone, with her feet on the dashboard. I remember she would dance to it, and I thought she was crazy!!
Then, as I was driving home from Poky the other day, "Sandra Dee" from Grease came on. Now, I know I just put a smile on about five faces immediately!! You know who you are and the story to that one!! I can't wait for the scentsy convention, because I get to see a lot of you then!!
My kids also love music, and love to listen to it in their room at random times of the day. "Allstar" by Smashmouth came on, (the kiddos randomly steal our old cd's for their own, and write their names on them!!) Hello, just out of high school, camping on the beach with guys we didn't know!!
Last night, however, I was following Luke in his tractor from Downey to McCammon, (going 5+ miles an hour!!), when "You Look So Good and Loved" by George Straight came on. Yes, I cried. Grandma and Grandpa Scott had that playing in their small blue car ALL the time. I miss Grandpa so much, and worry about Grandma every day. I wish I lived closer so I could help her more often, but for now, prayers will have to do!
There are so many more songs that bring back memories, and I know it is so cheezy, but I had to share my fun with everyone!!
Side note: I'm not the best with names or even singers, so I'm glad the internet is here to help!!
