Happy Thanksgiving!

Okay, so I am a week late, but the flu has hit our home! I got it first, and everyone else followed. My nephew, Mitch is the latest to get it. We aren't the only family in this small town to have it. The school is really suffering! I guess at church Relief Society was only half full! Well, at least we all ate Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma Foster's. One year our whole family had the flu and we had to stay home. The Sorenson's and Emily were there along with Grandma and Grandpa Foster. It was great. The night before, we went to the hot pools. Brooklynn even went! She actually loved the hot water! Then Sierra and I played our usual game of Phase Ten. Guess who kicked who's behind?!!

Colton Got Glasses!

So my little guy started squinting at books when he was pretending to read at the start of this school year. I didn't think much of it, since I figured that he was just watching a teacher or someone else read and copying them. Then, when they came to the school to do vision checks, I asked if they wouldn't mind checking my little guy even though he was 3 at the time. They said it would be fine. (It sure pays sometimes to be the PTO President!) Anyway, the lady who tested him said that he was telling her he could only see "dots", and that she was showing him smaller pictures of what he could identify on paper. We weren't sure if he just was being Coltie, so I decided it wouldn't hurt to take him to the Opthamologist. I'm already kicking myself for not taking pictures there, but he looked so cute in all of the different glasses! Well, it turns out that my baby boy is almost considered legally blind. He can't see in the distance at all. Today he got his glasses. He looks so cute in them! Carson thinks he looks like the boy in "The Christmas Story", but I think he looks like the boy off of "Stuart Little"! He's done really well so far, wearing them from the time he wakes up to the time he goes to bed. The first night, however, he wanted to go to bed early so that he could take them off!

Happy 7th Birthday, Carson!!

Yesterday was Carson's 7th Birthday!! I can't believe that my little guy's growing up so fast! It seems like he should still be lying in my arms!! He had a blast the past couple of days!
For his cupcakes at school, he wanted "hot wheels" on them. Instead of putting a car on top (because that would be too simple), I decided that I would put the hot wheel logo on each cupcake. By the time I made three, I wanted to be done! Poor Carson, the cupcakes looked horrible, but he thought they were great! I only made enough for the boys in his class, and then bought girl sprinkles to finish the rest! (Cheater -- I know, right?!)
After school, he invited some friends: Keagan, Bridger, Parker, and Levi over for his party. Mitch and Colton were there also. I didn't know that that many boys could be that loud and out of control! I am actually surprized that our neighbors didn't call the cops, and they are 4 acres away!By the time we ate pizza and had cake and ice cream, I was DONE! It had only been three hours, but I'm glad Luke was there to pick up my slack! The kids all went home at 7:00 and we picked up and went to bed by 8:00!
Today we came to town to Grandma and Grandpa Ruth's. They gave him a mountain bike that he can also do tricks on, and Luke and I got him a ramp to jump. (He's really into x games and stuff!) He and Colton have already been jumping his bike and, thank goodness, no broken bones or stitches, yet! (Colton is still in training wheels, so he has a hard time getting all the way up the ramp!) Luke even got a little jealous and took the bike and Carson's razor scooter over the jump a couple of times! To top off the Birthday Celebration, Carson lost his top front tooth this morning! Happy Birthday, Carson!!

Brooklynn Ruth Foster

Brooklynn Ruth Foster is our families little princess. We got way too used to boys in our family, so Heavenly Father blessed us with this little one! She's now ten months old, full of life, mischief, and still as bald as she was when she was born! She's definately a girl.
Brooklynn was born on January 9, 2007. She was a week early and soooo tiny! She still is very petite for one of our kids, but she's a girl, so what else should we expect! She's still tall for her age (I don't think any of our kidlies have ever been out of the 90th percentile for height!)

Brooks has four nicknames that she is known for in our family: Brooks, Roo, Sister, and Mater. Brooks and Sister pretty self explainitory. Roo comes from Luke and the boys when they are playing with her. (She has every boy in our family wrapped around her finger!) Colton calls her Sister when she is getting into something of his! Mater came around six months when she got her two buck teeth! They really do make her look like mater off of Cars! (Especially when she scunches up her nose!)

Sis loves to dance! If there is any kind of beat or tempo, she's shaking her bootie to it. (Including the Sacrament music!) She also loves to sing. It sounds like she's yelling during church, but she is just singing along with the rest of the congregation! She loves to play with her big brothers, eat, hang out with Aunt Gretchen, push tractors or cars around (I know, but she still has older brothers!), take baths, babies, shop, and be outside. She LOVES birds. She actually can say a lot of things for being ten months old. She says mom, dad, bath, bird, hot, up, pop (thanks, Aunt Gretch!), bye, hi, baby, dog, and Bart (Uncle Scottie's dog). Brooklynn loves to give kisses and be the center of attention. She learned to crawl around six months, just after she learned to sit on her own. However, she crawls so funny! She keeps one leg always behind her so that she can keep sitting down! My cousin thinks she looks like her leg is stuck, or something! She's everwhere and into everything! Her brothers can attest to that. She loves to be in the kitchen when I'm cooking or baking! Did I mention I love her to bits?! She's my favorite Brooklynn Ruth!

Happy Halloween! (three weeks late!)

Okay, so I'm not the perfect blogger. I've actually had these pictures since Halloween, but haven't put them on the computer until today! Halloween was perfect! No snow this year, so the costumes didn't have to be stretched over winter coats! It was cold, however, so in some of the pictures you can't even see costumes! I also liked that the cold air put a little pink on Brooklynn's nose and cheeks! No makeup required on my behalf! Carson was a hunter-go figure! He didn't have his gun with him, because he couldn't have it at school, and then he didn't want to carry it with him in Pocatello! Colton was a ninja. I think he just liked the tight spandex, but don't tell Luke. He had to wear sweats underneath, though! Brooklynn was my little bunny. She about died of heat at the costume parade at school. She was so sweaty!

Colton's preschool party was first. They did a pumpkin walk, bean bag toss into a cauldrin, and a pinata. They also decorated cookies and had punch.

Later that afternoon, we had the school costume parade. For those of you who have never seen the Mountain View Elementary costume parade, it is fun, fun, fun! EVERYONE who lives in the Marsh Valley area comes, old and young. It doesn't matter if you have a child, niece, nephew, grandchild, or anyone at all in the school, EVERYONE comes. The adults line around the outside of the gym, and the students sit in classes around the parents. Mr. Wheat, the principal cranks up the music and "gets the party started"! One by one, each grade parades around the gym, dancing and showing off their costumes. Then, when each grade is done, Mr. Wheat invites parents to join their kids. We dance and have fun until it's time to go to the kid's classes for individual parties. It sounds so cheesey, but it is really fun. The kids are always talking about it!

After school we went to Poky with Gretch and Mitch. We trick or treated in Old Town and at the mall. That's where Carson, Colton, and Mitch, the Royal Guard (my nephew) got their picture taken with Spider Man! I actually think he was just a parent, but the kids didn't care one bit!
On the way to mom and dad's, Brooklynn fell asleep in Mitch's old carseat. Luke had the truck with her carseat in it! In the end, the kids made out with too much candy and all fell asleep before we got home! Great day!!!
